Port of Flevokust: Multimodal transhipment, logistics and industrial estate

Port of Flevokust, just north of the city of Lelystad, is an multimodal inland port with a transhipment quay and industrial estate. This new industrial port will accommodate goods import and export to and from the major Benelux seaports. In addition to connecting various transport modalities, the eco-friendly Port of Flevokust will provide space for the enrichment and reuse of products in a circular economy. A breakwater in front of the quay will allow the port to fully function up to wind force 7.

The expected volume for this excellent new facility is 90,000 TEU by 2020. CTU Flevokust is already operating the new terminal with temporary facilities.

Space for all
The total port size when completed will initially be five hectares, including an impressive 400 metres of quay. There is easily room to expand the site to 10 hectares. Some 43 hectares of industrial estate is also being issued in stages, and this area can be expanded to 115 hectares.

Easy to reach
Port of Flevokust is situated at the edge of the Randstad region and the perfect location from which to transport your goods to and from Rotterdam, Antwerp, Amsterdam and the German hinterland. It is strategically situated on the main inland shipping route from Amsterdam to Lemmer and from IJsselmeer to Meppel, It’s close to the A6 motorway, Lelystad Airport, Schiphol Airport and Hanze railway line. The future expanding of the locks at the Kornwerderzand end of the Afsluitdijk will further increase the port’s accessibility.

Wide range of options
Port of Flevokust is offering a wide range of options in terms of plot size and building heights up to 40 metres. Space will also be available for agro-related and biobased activities, and the port will actively facilitate the connection between government bodies, companies, educational institutes and research institutions.

Sustainable solutions
The ideal sustainable business location, Port of Flevokust will be ahead of the game in terms of renewable energy and environmental regulations. Lots for companies in environmental categories 3.1 - 5.3 are available in varying sizes, with category 2 as an option if port-related.

Various types of business

As a future transhipment port with container terminal and ‘port-related industrial estate, Port of Flevokust has potential for a wide variety of businesses, such as transporters and manufacturers who need to transport their raw materials or other products. Although many of these transports will be realised in containers, there will also be space for bulk cargo.  The industrial estate has a maximum building height of 40 metres, making it an attractive location for cooling and storage warehouses. For port-related business, it is ideal that the premises will be directly connected to the quay via an internal road.

ENGIE Maxima plant
Port of Flevokust is situated adjacent to the ENGIE Maxima plant. This global frontrunner in clean energy can supply large power units to companies in the port. ENGIE has also signed a statement of intent for a sustainable area development with the Province of Flevoland, including a 30-hectare solar park.
